As I've said, I'm a cook and a programmer :)

Kung Hei Fat Choi

Today, January 22, 2011 is a holiday for the Chinese New Year.

What holiday means to me is "a full day of cooking and rest". Yeah, that's me. I know I am a programmer and I should be a bit busy in front of my computer doing coding, research and learn new ideas on the net. Yes, I supposed to do that. But, wait a minute, I am a wife. I seldom have one day staying in the house why I should not grab this very day to cook and learn something new in the kitchen.

So, I decided to cook 'Chicken stuffed in Chinese Cabbage (a.k.a. Pechay)', 'Baked Macaroni (that turns out to be Spaghettie)' and 'Buko Pandan' for dessert. The result, (1) the topseller, for my husband keep telling "Mommy where did you get this recipe? It's yummy..." (2) 7/10 since I just realized that I don't have cheddar cheese and cream cheese at refrigerator, so I just made a twist on the original recipe of Spaghettie. (3) too much color and juicy, laugh out loud, I accidentally pour in so much milk and lots of green gulaman bars that it turned out like a Pacific Ocean but taste like no other.

Yes, I have lots of success and failures at the kitchen. New experiment, new invention and old recipe revisions, sometimes '2 thumbs up' but sometimes cooked food keep sitting on fridge for several days. But it did not stop me from trying chances for it has been said, 'you cannot learn something unless you do it'.

Though I am not a Chinese because I am fully blooded Filipino woman, I celebrated the Chinese New Year. Not because of the occasion, but because I want to prove something. Do something and enjoy it. I wish there would be more holidays soon.

By the way, I wanna share some of the cooking blogs I regularly visit:

Be Thankful

This year may not be the best year for me, well, in fact this is the most challenging one and it really was.

March 18 - loss my job; terminated due to false accusations
Lessons Learned: (1) don't be equally yoked with the unbeliever
(2) when God says, "Leave" just do it and keep trusting

Apr - May - 3 months of job hunting; exerted efforts turned no good results either over or under qualified until I see the rainbow.

July 4 - first day at work, thank God He did not give up on me

Dec 9 - receives a needs improvement on my career performance evaluation; given 6 months to prove myself again.

But on top of all these, I can still say, "Thank You Lord for Year 2011"

Love,
Rhea
